Claus W. Jungeblut was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on June 12, 1897. He studied medicine in various European universities and graduated with a medical degree from the University of Berne in 1921. After serving five years as a bacteriologist with the New York State Department of Health, Dr. Jungeblut accepted an associate professorship at Stanford University in 1927.
